Car stereo repair in Auckland
When a car stereo stops working, the head unit is often not the problem. Most faults we find are in the power and earth connections, a fuse, the speaker wiring, the aerial lead or a poorly joined loom from an earlier installation. Car Audios finds the fault on site, anywhere in Auckland, so you do not have to book the car into a workshop.
We test the power, earth and ignition feeds, the speakers and their wiring, the aerial connection and any factory amplifier, then explain what we found. Wiring, connection, speaker and aerial faults are usually fixed on the spot.
If the head unit itself has failed, we tell you straight, and quote a replacement. For an older stereo, a new unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto often costs about the same as chasing the fault, and you get a better stereo out of it.

Is it worth repairing an old car stereo?

My stereo cuts out over bumps. What causes that?
Usually a loose power, earth or wiring connection behind the unit, often from an earlier installation. It is one of the most common faults we fix.
Do you fix car radios that only get a few stations?
Yes. Poor reception is usually the aerial connection or an aerial amplifier that is not powered. Japanese import radios may also need a band expander or a new unit to pick up NZ stations.
