Mazda Demio Stereo Upgrade: CarPlay, Bluetooth and English
Most Mazda Demios on NZ roads are Japanese imports, the same car sold new here as the Mazda2, and they usually arrive with a Japanese radio. The dash takes a double DIN unit with a Mazda fascia kit, so a CarPlay and Android Auto head unit is a simple swap, with a steering harness to keep the wheel buttons working.
Does the Mazda Demio have Bluetooth?
Some units do, with Japanese menus that make pairing hard, and many have none. A new head unit gives you Bluetooth, CarPlay and Android Auto in English. If you only want music, see cheaper ways to add Bluetooth.
What fits
A double DIN head unit with a Mazda fascia kit. Our Mazda Demio page has the details. Later Mazda models with a built-in screen, such as some Axelas, are different and use an interface instead.
Changing the radio language
Most Japanese units cannot be fully switched to English. See changing a Japanese car radio to English, and the radio code guide if it asks for a code after a battery change.
